What Would Isaiah Say?

As I consider the times in which we live, I find myself wondering what the prophets of old are
thinking as they are surely watching many of their prophecies in the process of fulfillment. What would they say if they were among us? Here are some possibilities:

Wo unto you Scribes, Pharisees, Hypocrites - who share not your riches with the poor, supposing they hath brought their circumstances upon themselves, and judgment has been dealt fairly upon them. Are ye not all beggars before me, and have ye not brought upon you your own condemnation through your sins?

Wo unto you Hypocrites - who despise men which defile their outward appearance with tattoos and piercings, while ye defile yourselves with lusts, pornography, and unrighteous judgments. Know ye that I the Lord looketh not on the outward appearance, but upon the heart?

Wo unto you Hypocrites - who claim to be the children of many generations of Saints in the Restoration. Are ye counted righteous because of their sacrifices unto me? Have you crossed the plains and escaped the hand of persecution unto depravity and death as your fathers have done? Ye ought to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before me! Are ye justified because of your righteous fathers?

Wo unto you Pharisees - who testify of my name from their pulpits with their lips, but whose hearts are far from me; Who preach from your high places on the Sabbath, and turn therefrom during the week in pursuit of the riches of the world and the honors of men. I the Lord God am a jealous God, and I have given you seven days wherein ye ought to do good. Know ye not that I am the giver of your riches, and can take them away with a single stretch of mine hand? Therefore, of what are ye but of the dust of the earth, which I have made?

Wo unto you Pharisees, Sadducee's, Hypocrites - Whose homes are built of the finest materials, even exceeding the beauty of mine own house. Whose outward appearance is elevated over the appearance of your hearts before me? Whose hearts are upon your riches, your vacations, your retirements, and the tangible comforts of the flesh which shall die with you. Know ye not that your hearts are upon that which moth doth eat, and rust doth corrupt? Ye ought to lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven!

Wo unto you Hypocrites - Who go to mine holy house with no sacrifice, and who attend worship services in body, but not in spirit; Whose desires are the praise of men, and who seek high callings, appearing unto men to be righteous, while inward they are ravening wolves, having covenanted with the dark one. Ye ought to offer unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit!

Wo unto you Hypocrites - Who despise those who defile their bodies with alcohol and tobacco, while ye glutton yourselves during your festivals and celebrations with lavish foods and beverages not fit for the body; Who delight in the fatness of your indulgences, forsaking my command to care for your temples. Have ye forgotten it is that which goeth out of the man that defiles him? How is it that ye have trifled with the Word of Wisdom given by the mouth of my holy servant?

Wo unto you Scribes - Who profess to know my word, yet proclaim "We have a Bible and a Book of Mormon, and we have no more need for the word of God." Who proclaim, "We have a living prophet who will tell us all things which we should do." Know ye not that I can bring forth more of my word? Know ye not that I have given my word to many, and not the head of my church alone? Know ye not that ye are compelled in all things by the voice of my Servants? Oh that ye would do good of your own accord, becoming agents unto yourselves, and taking the spirit as your guide!

Wo unto this generation who hath defiled my laws, and hath appointed children as your leaders, and who hath decreed unrighteous decrees writing grievousness as you have prescribed. Know ye that I have waited patiently upon you as a hen gathereth her chickens, and ye would not? Know ye not that I am King of Kings? Lord of Hosts is my name, and mine angels do await my command to pour out judgment upon you.

Wo unto you who stand in high places, supporting the evil one by your secret oaths passed down to you by Cain; Who do plan at this very time the destruction of the freedom of my people; Who delight in the ravishing and the bloodshed of the innocent, and who labor in iniquity for the purpose of gain; Know ye not that the depths of the sea await to receive you with millstones about your necks?

Oh wicked and perverse generation! Have ye studied that which I have caused to come forth through my servants the prophets? Have ye trifled with my word? Know ye not that great judgment awaits this generation of gentiles, in whom I have trusted with my covenant, and who hath perverted my holy ways? Know ye not that tribulations such as never have been known since the beginning are upon you because of your slowness to hearken unto my voice, and your quickness to follow the evil one?

Nevertheless, the fullness of my covenant shall be established by those who seek my face and in whom I shall elect to stand forth in the Millennium; and I will cause a mighty gathering of my children who hath not hardened their hearts against me from the four quarters of the earth.

Righteousness is my name. Holiness is my name. Constant is my name, and all shall be fulfilled concerning the end of the world according to voices of the prophets since the beginning. Repent and turn unto me that ye may stand at my return, and be not ashamed. Behold I come quickly. Amen.

The Doctrinal Significance of "The Callout"

Throughout the history of good and evil on earth there have been many key moments when evil might have prevailed over righteous had the Lord not intervened. Such times demonstrate the Lord's tender mercy to the righteous, along with his vengeance upon the wicked. But despite his miraculous ability to protect and preserve he has always used practical means of separating the righteous from the wicked before exercising judgment. Such will be the case again in a future event. "The Callout", as it has come to be known in some circles, will offer protection during the  Days of Tribulation  to those who hear the Lord's voice, and it will safely lead many of the elect who harden not their hearts into the Millennium (see  Doctrine and Covenants 43:29 ). The Callout is not widely discussed or understood. Just enough has been revealed to start conversation and  lead to speculation. Those who have not studied this subject may think of it as a future event when the saints

A Letter to a Church Divided

Dear Brothers and Sisters, For years I have believed a day of division in our church was coming, but I have always supposed it would be over some controversial political issue, like some of those we have seen in the recent past. Perhaps those issues have caused some division, but I believe there is another division taking place that is closer to the heart of the gospel than those issues. It tugs at the heart and soul of the latter-day church, and the experience of a young boy who knew he could receive divine guidance if he asked for it. Following his miraculous vision, he told his experience to his minister and got the following reaction: "he treated my communication not only lightly, but with great contempt, saying it was all of the devil, that there were no such things as visions or revelations in these days; that all such things had ceased with the apostles, and that there would never be any more of them." ( Joseph Smith - History 1:21 ) I believe in a church buil

Nine Takeaways from an intense study of the Last Days

I recently undertook an intense study of the Abrahamic Covenant. I learned a lot! It put nearly every doctrine and principle I've learned in a global context. I now see that everything in the gospel of Jesus Christ relates to the covenants the Father made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And I see that God is very interested in Abraham's posterity and in protecting them. Later I became curious how those covenants pertained to the Last days, and the Millennium. I have read and reread the books of Isaiah, 1st and 2nd Nephi, key Doctrine and Covenants chapters, and a bunch of general conference quotes. Not surprisingly, I realized the Abrahamic Covenant has everything to do with the Millennium. There were a few other significant lessons I learned along the way. Here are my takeaways from this interesting study: The difficult to understand scriptures are often most critical.  The chapters I have often skipped in scriptures due to their difficulty of interpretation, like Isaiah,
